Obesity and type 2 diabetes are deeply intertwined conditions, and weight loss remains one of the most powerful therapeutic tools for managing the disease. However, sustaining weight loss long-term remains a major challenge, and many people struggle due to biological and environmental factors.

About the Study

Novatrials is seeking adult volunteers, living with obesity and type 2 diabetes, to join a clinical study of a potential new weight loss treatment. The study drug will be administered by a small injection under the skin.

Eligibility Requirements

You may be suitable to join this study if you:

  • Are aged 18 to 65 years and a non-smoker
  • Have a BMI between 30 and 50, with weight not exceeding 159kgs
  • Have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months and on a stable diabetes medication regimen for at least 3 months
  • Have been unsuccessful in losing weight with diet and exercise
  • Have not used any other weight loss drugs for at least 3 months
  • Have not undergone surgery or device-based therapy for obesity
  • Have not had a significant cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke
  • Are not pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive

What to Expect

Participants will undergo:

  • Screening period: up to 35 days with one in-clinic day visit
  • Treatment period: up to 365 days, with between 12 to 17 in-clinic day visits. Select participants may be assigned to a cohort that includes two separate overnight in-clinic stays.
  • Post-treatment follow-up period: up to four months with two in-clinic day visits
