Novatrials is seeking volunteers with diagnosed COPD to join a clinical study of a potential new treatment.

We are investigating a potential new inhaled medication that directly targets lung tissue. It has the potential to improve respiratory function and reduce inflammation in the airways.

What to Expect

Study participants will undergo:

  • An initial screening period
  • One in-clinic visit prior to commencement
  • A daily dose of an inhaled study medication, delivered at the same time of day, in the morning, for 7 days. The first and last days will include a 12 hour in-clinic stay. The other 5 days will include a 6 hour in-clinic stay.
  • Two consecutive follow up days, on completion of the daily medication, which will include a 2 hour in-clinic stay

The expected maximum study duration for participants will be up to 37 days, inclusive of screening and study visits.

Eligibility Requirements

You may be suitable to join this trial if you:

  • Are aged 40 to 80 years
  • Have a diagnosis of moderate to severe COPD with symptoms such a chronic productive cough and/or shortness of breath
  • Are a current or former cigarette smoker
  • Have had stable use of a maintenance long-acting dual bronchodilator therapy for more than 4 weeks prior to screening, or stable use of dual bronchodilator therapy with inhaled corticosteroids for more than 3 months prior to screening
  • Have not used any other inhaled therapies for COPD within 3 months of screening
  • Have not required hospitalisation or oxygen therapy for COPD within 3 months of screening
  • Do not have a medical history of clinically significant cardiovascular disease or other diagnosed respiratory diseases
  • Have a BMI between 18 and 35, check your BMI here
