Respiratory Research is a hospital based Clinical Trials Unit and has been conducting pharmaceutical sponsored trials for the past 25 years. The team is headed by Principal Investigator Dr Antony Veale, 3 Sub Investigators and 2 study coordinators.
The study coordinators are experienced in all facets of spirometry, taking and processing lab samples, ECG’s, and electronic data entry. Dangerous goods, GCP and eCRF credentials and SOP’s are updated annually. TQEH has a dedicated Clinical Trials pharmacy for dispensing and storing of Investigational product.
The unit has an extensive data base and strong links with other respiratory physicians within the community to assist with recruitment. The unit prides itself on meeting all projected recruitment targets for each study.
The TQEH ethics committee chaired by Dr Richard Ruffin meets monthly and review and approval timelines are generally within 4 weeks. TQEH submits to the RAH Governance committee, again with similar review and approval timelines. Being hospital based the unit cannot accept private ethics committee submissions.
