St. George Dermatology and Skin Cancer Centre has over 25 years of experience conducting dermatology clinical trials. The site has conducted over 40 clinical trials from phase I through phase IV. Disease conditions include psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), actinic keratosis, acne, basal cell carcinoma, onychomycosis (nail fungus), masseter muscle hypertrophy, and glabellar lines.
The site has 8 examination rooms, a photo room, secure temperature-controlled storage, laboratory, -20 freezer, and centrifuge, as well as access to x-ray, EEG, 12-lead ECG, CT, DEXA, and ultrasound services. Investigators and staff are trained in ICH Good Clinical Practice.
Principal Investigator Dr. Stephen Shumack has been practicing dermatology for over 20 years at 2 large private practices located in Sydney and Kogarah. Dr. Shumack is well known in the community following his time as the principal media spokesperson in Australia for dermatology and was awarded a medal in the Order of Australia in 2011 for his services to dermatology and the community. He continues to work closely with the community and his colleagues at Royal North Shore Hospital of Sydney, the Skin and Cancer Foundation and Epiderm (Australian Dermatology Research and Education Foundation).
